THE Eighties pop sensation Tears For Fears, who hail from Bath, look set to make a comeback.

The dynamic duo of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, who had hits with songs like Everybody Wants To Rule The World, Shout and Mad World, have already been writing new material for a forthcoming project.

Roland made the revelation at a recent charity auction in the city to raise money for children with autism. He said it was the first time in ten years he and Curt had worked together.

Rumours that the successful duo were reforming were rife earlier this year. But Curt's mother Norma, who lives in Bath, said she had heard nothing of the plans.

Curt is now based in Los Angeles and has been recording under the name of Mayfield.

Roland, meanwhile, travelled to Bath on Thursday from London where he has been filming a video for his new single Lowlife, due for release in February, from a forthcoming solo album, Tomcats Screaming Outside.

The star's prized walnut and gold guitar raised £2,800 in the charity auction.
