TFF is playing in Belgium (Charleroi) on March 16, 17 and 18.
TFF is playing in Spain (Madrid) on March 29 and in Valencia on March 30 with Mike Oldfield.

Update - March 2/2007

"Gungi", TFF's production manager, has unfortunately taken ill. A number of fans had the privilage of meeting this
gentle giant of a man during the ELAHE tour, myself included.

"Gordon "Gungi" Paterson is a legendary figure in the music industry, having been a highly respected engineer, tour and
production manager.  From his early days in the UK with acts such as Black Sabbath and Judas Priest, he was a mainstay
of the 80's touring scene with bands like Megadeth, and continued through the 2000's with bands such as Live, System Of A Down,
Tears For Fears and most recently Fiona Apple. Gungi's easily recognizable physical stature is only overshadowed by his
immense heart, personality and positive attitude. Last summer, Gungi was diagnosed with cancer - A large lump was discovered
in and around the lymph nodes in his neck."

Friends of Gungi have set up a website to help him with his ongoing medical expenses. Any and all contributions would be gratefully
received. Information on the site includes:

FIONA APPLE - BENEFIT SHOWS FOR GUNGI
March 5th & 9th, 2007 at Largo/Los Angeles, CA

There is also a benefit auction being held on his behalf.

For more info, to view auction items, or to make a very worthwhile contribution, please visit:

http://www.friendsofgungi.com/index.html

There are plans in the works for TFF to perform a benefit concert at the end of July (2007) at the Orange County Fair in California,
all proceeds going to Gungi. Details are still in the infancy stage; more info will be provided as information is confirmed.

Last week, "American Idol" contestants sang "Sowing The Seeds of Love". If you didn't catch the performance on TV,
it's available online at YouTube at the following URL:

2007 NOTP (Night of the Proms) CD AVAILABLE (with two TFF tracks: Mad World and Sowing The Seeds Of Love)

notp cd

Visit http://www.notp.com for more info, including a TV/video promo clip.

A fan (Marie - Prensa Gpe) sent in these two posters for the Spainish NOTP:

http://www.tearsforfearsfans.com/07_02_25_ENTRADA_VENTA_PROMO.jpg

http://www.tearsforfearsfans.com/07_01_25__Nota_prensa_Rosa.jpg

Also, in the new film, Music and Lyrics, with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore, TFF is mentioned.
TFF (ELAHE) was played in Drew's last film, Fever Pitch, and she not only starred in Donnie Darko (Mad World),
but produced as well - Perhaps Ms. Barrymore is a big TFF fan...

And this is fairly old news, but in P. Diddy's latest album "Press Play", the track "Testimonial (Intro)" has the riff of
Head over Heels
sampled continuously.

Update - November 19/2006

Here's a 'Night of The Proms' diary entry from Roland, which he sent yesterday. Enjoy!

Tears For Fears do ‘Night of the Proms’.

Greetings from Rotterdam!

Although yesterday I was sitting in a cloud of grey mist, high up in this tower of a hotel, today the sky is blue and light is pouring into the room (too much for one’s vanity).

It is November 17. I’m not sure how much you know about what Curt and I are up to at the moment (BTW - Curt runs a blog on myspace, which will give you an excellent impression of day-to-day languor interspersed with a running commentary on how his cough is doing. Funny how he never mentions the crabs – insert smiley face – the one with the wink!) But just to backtrack a little, TFF has become a small (but essential) cog in a long-running and popular (at least in Belgium) series of concerts involving other artists/legends, but most importantly, a sizeable orchestra and choir. The show is a seamless blend of rock, pop, and classical – eclectic to say the least, but also (if you’re into that kind of thing) entertaining, amusing, and surreal. It lasts around three hours. There is an intermission. We play at the end of the first half (Mad World, Rule the World, Seeds of Love, and Shout) and do one song (Woman in Chains) in the second. It’s very stop-start for us and yet requires more concentration than one of our own concerts where we are literally basking in the adoration of the guy at the front. And it is quite unlike touring, where every day threatens a new experience. Here, there is a striking familiarity to the routine, and a consistency to the concerts, which run like clockwork.

You would think that being involved in an operation that co-ordinates as many as one hundred and fifty performers, there would be a significant chance of bumping into someone that shares your birthday – apparently it only takes twenty-three ‘others’ for there to be a fifty/fifty chance – or even someone you would quite happily make babies with. But alas, NOTP is a segregated world. Artists commingle with artists, orchestra with orchestra, choir with choir, backing singer with backing singer (now there’s a thought!), and John Miles with… (actually John, if you’re reading this – mine’s a chardonnay!) It’s genetics at its most potent, surrounding each species with an invisible bubble that prevents diversity and encourages purity. The upside of all this is – it gives one (me) plenty of opportunity to jog (seldom taken), sightsee (ah!), or even sit alone and think. One of the reasons I am doing this gig (apart from bringing joy to Benelux) is the fact that it allows an inordinate amount of time to focus on a literary project that I am involved with – a new obsession (around 20 months now) - the written as opposed to the sung word. I won’t say too much about it – but rest assured I have not been idle. It feels quite strange putting on the TFF hat again – worrying about my hair… my wrinkles… my trousers… and shirt! (God I miss that sailor jacket). But I suppose seven weeks’ work a year is enough to keep one’s hand in and enough to satisfy the urge to make a fool of oneself in public – something I have been managing to do on a regular basis.

Which brings me to ‘Yellow Submarine’ – yes, the Beatles’ song. It is the encore, and every artist gets reintroduced while being presented with flowers before emerging from the top of the central ramp to tumultuous applause. Of course with my hay fever, I have to quickly dispose of the effeminate bouquet, and many a bemused orchestra member has been the unwilling recipient of a dubious, yet romantic, offering. You can see how this might affect a man’s reputation (mine as well). To top it all, I have been given the illustrious task of starting off the singing, mainly because Sharleen from Texas - the band, not the state - politely declined the invitation. In fact, she refused to even be a passenger in said submarine, offering her fear of deep water (she is a Scorpio!) as a viable excuse. It’s a shame – I definitely see her as being adept with a periscope. Anyway, I digress. If they had known anything about my character (those who allot such formidable assignments), they would have asked someone more reliable, simply because there is a pregnant pause after the orchestra plays the intro, which relies on me to make it less pregnant (I could use the word ‘abort’ or even compare the conductor to a midwife, but I shan’t). Unfortunately, it is tempting at times to increase the… term of the pregnancy. Ah well, they’re lucky I’m not an elephant.

Talking of Texas – the band, not the state – it has been fun hanging out with the assorted members and we have learnt a new way of saying ‘Goat’s Cheese Salad’, and also that if you don’t ask for a poached egg, you won’t get one (obtuse – I know). Sharleen and Johnny have moved on to pastures new – Antwerp being their only stint – we wish them well with their next record. She really is a natural-born singer with a remarkable range. Onwards and upwards. We now have UB40 to bring the show to a climax, which they do effortlessly – their songs, enhanced further by the heavenly choir. There are a lot of UB’s – one big happy family. As a result, it is now becoming quite crowded on stage during the encore. Strange thing is, although UB40 got their name from a ‘form for claiming unemployment benefit’, it is also the name of a (German) submarine. I wonder what color it was??

Still, although I would recommend Antwerp as a holiday destination (make sure you stay at the Hilton – it’s right next to the cathedral – in the district from which you need not venture further), I am not sad to see the back of the suicide teal of the hotel room walls, nor the single-sized duvet. I am now vaguely encouraged by red furniture, a king-size bed, and a plasma screen – and now we have been moved to the back of the hotel, away from the sounds of pernicious pile-driving at the front, I can feel the adrenaline rising, almost. I even have a desk to sit at where I can worry all day about generative syntax and whether Emil’s Jacuzzi is being put to good use.

So… I heard a rumor that some of you were making the pilgrimage to witness this grand event. What news? I’d like some warning – at least enough time to arrange flowers. Any preference of color? :-)

Roland

Update - September 12/2005

New tearsforfearsfans message board

I have created a new tearsforfearsfans board (forum), which will replace the old message board. It has many cool
features that I think you will enjoy: such as users’ avatars and profile info, various categories and sub-sections
(so you can read only the threads that interests you), and many easy-to-use options that don’t require knowledge
of html code in order to post photos, etc.

Guests/non-members are limited to a small section of categories (three) so you can get a taste of the board format, etc.
before deciding if you liked to join. Guests will be able to read these categories, but not post. To become a member
with full access (seven additional categories) and posting privilages, you will need to register, then be approved.

The link to the new board is:

http://xsorbit29.com/users5/tearsforfearsfans/

Please read the files in the "Welcome" section of the new forum for information on how to use the board, rules, member
status, how to post avatars and photos, etc.

Depending on how many people register, it will take me a while to go through the approval process, so your patience
is appreciated. In the meantime, the old board will remain up for a period of time during the transition, then deleted.

Update - August 6/2005

Two more sections of fan photos have been created (Europe and West Coast). If you have photo(s) taken with
band members that you'd like to post, please read the instructions before submitting.

Update - August 3/2005

Roland posted the lyrics to TFF's new song "Floating Down The River" on this site's message board while
he was in Tahoe:

Floating down the River lyrics

I've got a bone to pick with you cos you're lovin' every minute of the day
Lost in a space between the lines, seems like life begins at forty anyway
Must be a case of spot not feather, even though they're boxed together
(The orchestra is dead)

Emil's Jacuzzi - starting to lose me - didn't I warn you
(Floating down the river once again)
Solomon Juneau - someone that you know - how we adore you
(Floating down the river once again)

I've got a plastic cross to bear, gonna pick it up and crash into the sun
Fly on a rare collision course when the race is over just as it's begun
Scientists will pay for this and rue the day they ever tried to change your world

Emil's Jacuzzi - starting to lose me - didn't I warn you
(Floating down the river once again)
Solomon Juneau - someone that you know - how we adore you
(Floating down the river once again)

Ave Neru Salam - your secret life is written in your hand
Toy guns for everyone - you're needed now, a change is gonna come

Scientists will pay for this and rue the day they ever tried to change your world

Emil's Jacuzzi......

(Now don't ask me what it means!)

The phone number to Ceasar's is: (775) 588-3515 - Ticket Office: (800) 648-3353

A French fan ('Chimpy') has posted two videos of Roland and Curt being interviewed on French TV (with english translation).

Everybody Loves a Happy Ending (Windows Media)

From the opening blast of 'Everybody Loves A Happy Ending' with it's elaborate production, ringing alarm clock and call to "Wake Up", listeners are in no doubt that Tears For Fears are back! It's clear to see why track is the title track on the album. It's a rock-epic that moves between shades of Pink Floyd, hints of acoustic country-folk, centered by a spirited staccato rock feel and inventive melodic turns. The over-all sound is Beatles-esqe and the track ends in a climactic-high with Orzabal channelling the McCartney within as he sings "oooh".

"Call Me Mellow" has the distinctive Tears For Fears hallmark psychedelia. Intelligently crafted lyrics meander to an up beat tempo driven by acoustic rhythm guitars and Orzabal's unmistakable vocals to take on a groove of its own, rousing into the unforgettable and infectious chorus of "Call Me Mellow". Arguably this is one of the most infectious records Tears For Fears have produced to date, an airy summer anthem!
